Best New Spas

With the launch of our new Rose Bath & Body Collection, thoughts of a spa vacation have been on my mind. Golden Door in southern California and Coqui Coqui Tulum are old favorites of mine, but there are quite a few new and updated spots in exotic locations that I’ve just added to my travel wish list, and I wanted to share them with you. A spa getaway is the ultimate treat, but the idea of incorporating this kind of pampering into your daily life inspired us to expand our rose range. I hope you enjoy it.

Mandapa means “temple” in Sanskrit and the new wellness space of the same name in Ubud, Bali welcomed its first guests earlier this month. A Ritz-Carlton Reserve property, the Mandapa is perched above a verdant paddy field. With its secluded sylvan setting, private pool villas, and personalized butler service, the aim is to capture the restorative calm characteristic of its name. The spa’s Romance Ritual treatment combines Balinese and Javanese techniques with a rose quartz crystal scalp massage that sounds like total bliss.

Fregate Island in the Seychelles is the setting for Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, but, while children are certainly welcome at this resort, I think it would make for a lovely adult-only escape. The Rock Spa, with a line of exclusive ingredients grown on the island, makes the most of its natural surroundings—a wildlife reserve and conservation sanctuary to over 2,000 giant tortoises, among other exotic creatures. A complete restoration project, including a renovation of the resort’s 16 private pool villas, was completed this summer.

In April 2016, St. Regis is opening its newest property on a private atoll in the Maldives. The St. Regis Vommuli Resort’s spa includes six treatment rooms, an infinity pool, yoga, and a dive center. History buffs can partake of the hotel’s iconic Bloody Mary, a cocktail that many claim was invented at the flagship St. Regis in New York back in the 1930s.

Marsa Malaz Kempinski is a newly opened 281-room property on the Pearl—a manmade island surrounded by turquoise waters off the coast of Doha on the Persian Gulf. Its 32,292-square-foot wellness and fitness facility includes an impressive Clarins spa. Try the Red Flower Signature Hammam, which can feature a soothing hinoki mint mineral soak followed by wild lime silk oil and a shiatsu massage.

Finally, I was very excited to hear about Chanel au Ritz Paris, Chanel’s first-ever spa. Details are still hush-hush, but the space inside the Ritz is set to open sometime this year. Seeing as Coco herself lived at the hotel from 1934 until her death in 1971, this has a wonderful air of inevitability to it. Fingers crossed that it’s open in time for my next trip.
