Greydon House, a new opening in downtown Nantucket, is a luxurious haven for a weekend escape, with a restaurant serving American classics, a comfortable library with vintage sofas, and a cozy living room fireplace. Local architect Matthew MacEachern of Emeritus has seamlessly added square footage to the original 1850s Greek Revival property to create a 20-room boutique hotel that fits perfectly into its historical surroundings. The interiors by design firm Roman and Williams nod to Nantucket’s seafaring past via nautical artwork, whaling artifacts, and brass fixtures.
There’s a rich palette throughout the hotel that speaks to nature in blues and earthy hues—I particularly love the hand-painted Portuguese tiles. Each light-filled guest room has been individually designed; Roman and Williams’ bespoke iron beds and pulley pendant lights are a beautiful addition. And just to add to Greydon House’s personal touch, a cocktail cart makes the rounds between rooms for pre-dinner drinks.
