The Seychelles, 115 granite and coral islands scattered across the Indian Ocean, offers an array of attractions, from trekking through primeval jungle on Frégate to relaxing on the beautiful coral sand beaches on tiny Bird Island. But what really interests me is the diving and snorkeling. September through November offer perfect conditions for both, and the island of La Digue makes an ideal base. Surrounded by fine sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and a stunning reef off its west coast, it’s an amazing place to explore underwater—swim among colorful reef fish, turtles, stingrays, and whale sharks—or onland by bike or horseback to spot rare bird species nesting in Indian almond trees.
The sea and its offerings has been hugely influential in the AERIN collection, and has given rise to pieces such as the Amelie Shell Vase, Coral and Clam Shell bottle stoppers, Clamshell Box, Clamshell Bowl, and Sea Urchin Candle, as well as the colors and textures on some of my favorite table lights, including the Gaios in blue, and the Culloden, also available in blue or navy.
