A fellow New Yorker, Kat Tanita highlights the best of the city on her popular blog, With Love From Kat, alongside beauty tutorials, home décor inspiration, and guides to some of her favorite destinations.
I love the idea behind your travel app, an on-the-go guide to restaurants, shops, and hotels in some of your favorite destinations. Where have you been recently that’s made the cut?
Thank you! I always love going to London. I feel like I finally know my way around the city after all these years. High tea at The Berkeley hotel is a must, so is shopping in Mayfair (I adore Temperley), wandering around Belgravia and South Kensington, and sitting by the fireplace with a cocktail at Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill are just a few of my favorite things to do in the city.
When it comes to everyday beauty I like to keep it simple—a splash of perfume and a touch of Bronze Illuminating Powder for a little glow—but I do love to follow new trends. What’s a beauty trend you’re excited about?
I’m a huge fan of a brown smoky eye paired with a nude lip. I think it’s nice to offset a bold eye with a subtle lip and you have so many amazing nude lip colors to choose from.
I've heard you are a fan of my latest fragrance, Tangier Vanille, inspired by all the rich and evocative scents associated with Morocco. Which notes appeal to you?
The vanilla is what really draws me in—it’s a subtle pair with the bergamot and amber but leaves such a beautiful, intoxicating scent.
Your online shop has a wonderful boho vibe. Who are some of your style icons?
Jackie Kennedy for her classic style, Rachel Zoe for her boho glamour, and Miranda Kerr for her feminine chic city looks.
We both call New York home but travel frequently for work. If you didn’t live in New York, where would you be?
Venice Beach, California has a special place in my heart. I spent a month there this summer and was drawn to the laid back vibe. I love the fact that everyone entertains outside, rides their bikes, surfs—it’s a very active, healthy lifestyle. There are so many great little boutiques and restaurants along Abbot Kinney.
