Whenever a fashion spread catches my eye in the pages of Vogue, it’s often been shot by photographer Patrick Demarchelier. He has an uncanny ability to take photographs that stop you in your tracks, so I’m definitely planning to visit his first ever US retrospective at Christie’s this week. Spanning fashion and pop culture, Patrick has captured some of the most iconic images of our time, from the rise of the Supermodel in the 1990s to amazing spreads of haute couture, and what I consider to be one of the most charming portraits of Princess Diana ever taken. The show may be brief, but it’s perfectly timed on the heels of fashion week to coincide with Christie’s Fall Photography Week. With opening remarks by Anna Wintour and Jeff Koons, the exhibition catalog is sure to become a collector’s item in its own right.
