Especially in the winter, when New York is gray and freezing, I dream about summer weekends at the beach. My perfect summer Saturday involves lots of time with my family and being outdoors as much as possible. I love starting a summer day with strong coffee and a long walk on the beach with my dogs. When I’m back, we all cook a big breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and bacon, with fruit from the local farm stand. With two boys, our weekends are active. We love to bike around the neighborhood, sail on the pond, and swim. Our latest obsession is paddle boarding. It is so much fun and great exercise. For lunch, we like to stop by Sagaponack General Store to pick up a bite to bring to the beach. Swimming in the surf, long walks hunting for shells and beach glass—I could spend all day at the beach. Afterwards, if we have time, antiquing and eating ice cream in Sag Harbor is a treat. In the evenings, we invite friends over and grill outside. We set up a long table with rosé, wild flowers, good food, and we enjoy the night.
