Carolyn’s Favorite Things
The saying “I don’t know how she does it” definitely applies to model Carolyn Murphy. When she’s not working, the busy mom can be found doing everything from sculpting to surfing. I caught up with Carolyn to find out what is on her radar right now. From her favorite beaches in the world to her can’t live without beauty essentials, here are Carolyn’s 12 favorite things:
Makeup must have: Estée Lauder BB cream with sunblock
Skincare essentials: Re-Nutriv Cream Cleanser, Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair, Re-Creation Cream, and Crème de la Mer
Beauty secret: A lot of water, omega oils, flax oil and Bikram yoga.
Designer who takes up the most space in your closet: That’s a toss up between Calvin Klein and Chloé.
Item in your wardrobe that you can’t live without: I can’t live without my BLK DNM jeans, in all shapes and colors.
Fall trend that you are loving: Structured shapes that are still feminine. Bold colors like red.
Accessories that you are wearing right now: One simple gold Chloé wide band bracelet.
Statement shoe: Tabitha Simmons black, pointed toe, kitten heel pump or my Manolo Blahnik sling backs in black from 1996.
Bag you use the most: My vintage Hermès Kelly in black.
Item that you are currently coveting: My winter white Céline coat for fall/winter.
Favorite gift that you have ever given: A pony for my daughter. It was a dream come true for her.
Favorite gift that you ever received: Of course, anything passed down from my family, like framed photos, or my great Nana’s jewelry and furniture. But Harry Winston had a “Carolyn Murphy” necklace made for me that is truly breathtaking, and tucked away in a vault!
Favorite place you have ever lived: New York City.
Place you go to escape: Any beach and/or woods, preferably Big Sur.
Best beach ever: Oh that is difficult. It’s a toss up between Costa Rica’s Guanacaste, Uluwatu in Bali, or Byron Bay, Australia.
When you aren’t working, you are: Being Mom, visiting family, taking road trips, classes at Open Center or New School in NY, decorating my houses, cooking, sculpting, surfing or riding horses.
Restaurant that you love: Giorgio Baldi’s in Santa Monica.
Meal that you dream about: Steak frites and a glass of Bordeaux at an outdoor cafe in Paris.
Necessary indulgence: Sleep and dark chocolate.
