At my house, everyone congregates in the kitchen. It’s where we do homework, read, catch up, laugh, talk, and of course eat. During the past few years, the kitchen has also become one of my favorite places to entertain. We often host Sunday brunch with friends and their children there. Brunch is one of my favorite meals to host because it is so fun and effortless to pull off. I set out a tray of fresh muffins and croissants from the bakery, mix together a delicious fruit salad, and fill mismatched pitchers with a variety of fresh juices. I also like to throw a few junkie cereals like Captain Crunch, and Cocoa Krispies into the mix. Everybody has fun cooking together—whether it’s bacon with eggs, sausage, or pancakes. We eat in the kitchen at a long table that I dress up with flowers, pretty linens, and colorful dishes. Something about eating in the kitchen immediately makes everyone let their guard down in a way they might not otherwise. With the kids and the bustle of cooking, our brunches immediately become lively, fun, and a great way to spend a Sunday morning.
